hi ceci and welcome to rambhai.com
i too believe that life is easy for men here in India as women have to face a lot of things starting with the restrictions of the parents to the restrictions of the husband after marriage....
there is a very less amt of freedom available to them and as far as a the sexual exploitation is concerned a woman will be lucky here after wearing a sleeveless top or a short skirt and attract lewd comments or at least glances walking on the road....

Hi Denny, thanks for sharing ur view from India, do you think it might change in the future? Less restrictions with the new generations coming?

ha ha true - men like that in India would be chastised and nailed to the wall with a branding - homosexual. Yes definitely this revolution has a long way to go before it enters India. I think then it would be as difficult as being any gender :-) Except for being able to pee in nature what other advantage would men remain with?

A married man might disagree someone who is balancing wife and mother within the same roof. Besides Men are known to be mroe prone to heart attack, bilogically women have been blessed with a more robust n healthy body. Women have higher survival rate and live much longer than their men counterpart. Some things in the world are male oriented for example top positions in corporates however nobody would deny that a smart woman with charms can easily climb to where no man has gone ever before. I do agree men in india tend to make passes and even attack women especially if they are alone. That's one area men have an upper hand over women. Im sure this would change with education being available to a bigger class of people but then some men will always be men :D

thanks Garfield for the comment and u right some men will always be men. When u said 'nobody would deny that a smart woman with charms can easily climb to where no man has gone ever before', why does the woman need to have some charms ;( can t she accomplish it only with her knowledge and skills no matter how she looks like ?

Charming people is also a skill, when you move towards the top, more and more people have similar skills as you do. When there are 5 people competing with similar knowledge and skills the one who has a better public image wins. PR is as important as knowledge and its definitely a skill. What i feel is women have an upper hand in corporate situations when they have a bit of charms along with their knowledge.

Hey Garfield, u re right, does not mean I agree with it ;) I m a bit feminist and I don t think it s fair, charming should not be a criteria, if it is to represent the image of a company yeah i m sure they will the gorgeous one ;( I m glad i m working in a man s environment (in majority) to avoid competition with top model ;)

Being a feminist should not be a hindrance to accepting the fact that women are more charming and more worldly wise as compared to men. Lets face it how many of us men even make an attempt to look good. We come to work looking like fart faces and expect that our bosses and customers should love us for that. By looking good you needn't look like some top model, but be presentable, well groomed and you'll definitely open a few doors.

i think we can still find many advantages, can u be drunk in the street or burp? It does not mean it would be appreciated by others, but if a woman is doing it, it would be even worse, it s like intimate relations with many women, for a man it s more ok, if you are a woman even in europe u re more like an 'easy girl' right rather than for a man u are a 'Don Juan' ;)

hmm a good discussion is being going on between garfy and ceci about the most debatable topic men and women....
i too agree that women now have more chances of getting thru their jobs and promotions in most places..... now a days gals are preferred more than the boys in most places...
but again in the eyes of the law there is a big unequality, whereas men are easily given the death sentence for the same crime women might receive a much lenient punishment.... this is a fact that i dont like when she is a woman why did she committed the crime, therefore they should be treated equally in the eyes of the law....

death penalty is pretty tough decision, this is not legal anymore in France, and I m glad, who are to decide who have to die or not, I don t know if I would be too keen if somebody kills a member of my family but that could an other debate ;) but u know it s the same thing for celebrity men and women who can worst than some civil one and have a 1/3 rd of the punishment we have. In France, the difference of salary between man and woman is around 20% (and more than 50% of difference for a CEO position), do I think it s fair, certainly not, why is that, one of the reason is u might get pregnant, just upon an assumption then here we go we will pay u less ;( I m sure we can go on and on about this topic, and I think it s cool to share it with u guys. Do u have the same pb with salary difference in India?

no ceci there is not such a huge salary difference here in India, infact there is hardly difference in salary on the basis of gender..... any gender can earn more than the opposite one.... i think in India there is more of an equality between men and women then europe....
PS i am talking about urban areas and not the rural areas, i feel there are discrepancies in that areas...
